The Catalina Island chain is an archipelago of rocky outcroppings that sit off the Nicoya Peninsula and offer a glimpse into the regions exotic marine life. The area is famous for their large manta and bat rays, sea turtles, tropical fish, and the occasional friendly whale shark.<\/p>\n<p><b>3. Or, take a moderate 3-hour hike through the jungle and keep an eye out for monkeys along the way. Visiting the waterfall at Rio Celeste requires a 2 hour moderately difficult hike, but the prize of a cool dip with breathtaking views makes it feel like a short stroll.<\/p>\n<p><b>5.
