Chasing the \u201cperfect\u201d workout will most likely lead to frustration and disappointment.<br \/><br \/>So while the perfect workout might not exist, that doesn\u2019t mean that all workouts are created equal. There are great workouts, there are pretty good workouts and of course, there are bad workouts \u2013\u00a0<em>have you checked out Youtube recently?<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a7e6fc5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"a7e6fc5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">So, What\u2019s The Solution?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4fe0386 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4fe0386\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Here\u2019s what I say \u2013 aim for\u00a0<strong>pretty good workouts<\/strong>.\u00a0And be consistent as hell with your pretty good workouts. That\u2019s it.<\/p><p>If you do pretty good workouts (like the one I provide below) a few days of the week, you\u2019ll be fit.<\/p><p>You\u2019ll feel great and look dashing in the mirror.<\/p><p><em>(Did I just manage to use dashing in a sentence? I love it when that happens.)<\/em><\/p><p>Obviously, the best workout for you depends on your individual goals, but let\u2019s address a very common goal I get all the time with my coaching clients \u2013 they want to feel and look good. They want clothes to fit better. They want to get lean and feel strong.<\/p><p>Well then, here\u2019s a good workout template that you should follow to make sure your workouts are pretty good.<\/p><p>It has the following components:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ab3c6cb elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ab3c6cb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h4>1) Some kind of upper body pushing and pulling movements.<\/h4><p>The most obvious pushing movement would be a push-up or a bench press. Pulling movements would be pull-ups or bodyweight rows.<\/p><h4>2) Some kind of lower body hip hinge movement.<\/h4><p>Most obvious example would be any kind of deadlift movement.<\/p><h4>3) Some kind of lower body squat movement.<\/h4><p>Pick your favorite squat variety.<\/p><h4>4) Movement in different planes of motion.<\/h4><p>Most of us spend way too much time in the sagittal plane \u2013 front to back. There are 2 other planes of motion, the frontal plane \u2013 movement side to side, and the transverse plane \u2013 which is any rotational movement.<\/p><h4>5) Some kind of mobility work.<\/h4><p>Stretching, foam rolling, or any other soft tissue work.<\/p><h4>6) Some kind of conditioning or cardiovascular work.<\/h4><p>This could be sprints, jumps, running, or other plyometric exercises.<\/p><h4>7) Some kind of core work.<\/h4><p>Planks work really well here.<\/p><h2>Let\u2019s Put Pretty Good Into Action<\/h2><p>So we have 7 components that make up a pretty good workout, now let\u2019s look at an actual workout you can do today that satisfies all these conditions.<\/p><p>Here\u2019s one of my favorite Intermediate Kettlebell \/ Bodyweight combo workout:<\/p><h2>Workout Instructions:<\/h2><h4>1) Set a timer for 15 minutes.<\/h4><h4>2) Perform the top 4 exercises for 10 reps with little to no rest in between exercises.<\/h4><h4>3) Hold the side plank for 20 seconds on each side.<\/h4><ul><li>KB Goblet Squat (bodyweight squat)<\/li><li>Push-up (elevated push-up)<\/li><li>KB Swing (KB deadlift)<\/li><li>Pull-up (band-assisted pull-up)<\/li><li>Side Plank (Knee down Side plank)<\/li><\/ul><p>The idea is to rest as little as you can throughout the entire 15 minutes. Try to complete as many rounds as you can in the 15-minute window. If the exercise is too hard or you don\u2019t have the equipment, perform the \u201cregression\u201d exercise instead, noted in parenthesis below.<\/p><h2>Workout Demonstrations:<\/h2><p><b>KB Goblet Squat<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fd73487 elementor-widget elementor-widget-video\" data-id=\"fd73487\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;youtube_url&quot;:&quot;https:\\\/\\\/youtu.be\\\/riszEuaFnss&quot;,&quot;video_type&quot;:&quot;youtube&quot;,&quot;controls&quot;:&quot;yes&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"video.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-wrapper elementor-open-inline\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-video\"><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83f4df9 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"83f4df9\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Grab the Kettlebell and hold it directly underneath your chin. Brace your torso and sit back into a squat position so that your elbows touch the inside of your knees. Pause for a split second at the bottom of the squat and then stand up. Try to maintain a good back position with your chest up and limited rounding of your lower back.<br \/><br \/><strong>Push-up<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-078ea8a elementor-widget elementor-widget-video\" data-id=\"078ea8a\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;youtube_url&quot;:&quot;https:\\\/\\\/youtu.be\\\/Yec8uh2K8B4&quot;,&quot;video_type&quot;:&quot;youtube&quot;,&quot;controls&quot;:&quot;yes&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"video.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-wrapper elementor-open-inline\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-video\"><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2e4e64d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"2e4e64d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Set up for a strict push-up with your hands underneath your shoulders, your feet together, and a nice straight line from head-to-toe. Squeeze your butt to create tension in your body. Lower down without letting your elbows flare out wide. Think about pressing into the ground as you push yourself up in a controlled tempo.<\/p><p><strong>Kettlebell Swing<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6b3000c elementor-widget elementor-widget-video\" data-id=\"6b3000c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;youtube_url&quot;:&quot;https:\\\/\\\/youtu.be\\\/nmOfd89n7tg&quot;,&quot;video_type&quot;:&quot;youtube&quot;,&quot;controls&quot;:&quot;yes&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"video.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-wrapper elementor-open-inline\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-video\"><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-90e131e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"90e131e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Start with the kettlebell a few feet in front of your body. Reach your butt back as you bend over to grab the kettlebell and hike it behind your body, just under your butt. Thrust your hips forward and let your arms swing the kettlebell to waist or chest level. Always maintain a straight back and focus on snapping the hips and squeezing the butt at the top of the swing.<\/p><h3>Pull-up<\/h3>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4a015aa elementor-widget elementor-widget-video\" data-id=\"4a015aa\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-settings=\"{&quot;youtube_url&quot;:&quot;https:\\\/\\\/youtu.be\\\/aNaeaqXUteI&quot;,&quot;video_type&quot;:&quot;youtube&quot;,&quot;controls&quot;:&quot;yes&quot;}\" data-widget_type=\"video.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-wrapper elementor-open-inline\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-video\"><\/div>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d2f0b1b elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d2f0b1b\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Approach the bar or tree with your hands facing away from your body. Use a step or bench to reach the bar. Slowly pull yourself up over the bar under control. Drive the hips to the sky without rotating. Lift the top hand straight up. Hold the position for 20 seconds and then repeat on the other side.<\/p><h2>Why is this workout pretty good?<\/h2><p>This workout has the following components:<\/p><ul><li>Upper body push \u2714<\/li><li>Upper body pull \u2714<\/li><li>Lower body hinge \u2714<\/li><li>Lower body squat \u2714<\/li><li>Core work \u2714<\/li><li>Mobility work \u2714<\/li><li>Cardiovascular intensity \u2714<\/li><\/ul><p>It\u2019s a pretty good workout.
