Every once in a while here at WRSC we spot some local surfing talent that can\u00b4t be ignored. \u00a0We are super stoked to announce our sponsorship of Yury Alvarez\u00a0a great local surfer. \u00a0Right now she\u00b4s on her way to the Volcom Howler Monkey Fish contest being held in Playa Jaco on June 4th. \u00a0We\u00b4re all a little bummed that we can\u00b4t go and check out the contest, but Yury said she would swing back by the camp and let us know how it turned out. \u00a0She came by the camp yesterday for a quick photo shoot and she was nice enough to give us a little bit of her background….. \u00a0Yury is 17 and grew up in El Llano, Costa Rica. \u00a0When her mom moved out to Tamarindo she made the move with her. \u00a0She attends the Liceo de Villareal school.<\/p>

She took up surfing 4 years ago and has been in several contests with her highest finish being 2nd. \u00a0She couldn\u00b4t remember when or where that contest was (clearly she\u00b4s not focusing on the past right now). \u00a0Looking towards the future, Yury says that she “Wants to keep gaining more experience so that she can place better in future contests”. \u00a0<\/p>
