In the world of surfing, local knowledge was once king. Before the advent of the internet, surfers like myself spent countless hours chasing the SWELL of the year, often ending up in rainy carparks, with nothing but hope and a sense of adventure. This was a time before smartphones and surf forecast apps, where predicting weather and waves was more art than science. We\u2019ve come a long way from interpreting spinning blobs of purple on isobar charts to accessing real-time updates and surf cams at our fingertips. While some might argue that the magic of the unknown has been lost, the evolution of wave forecasting has undeniably transformed our surfing experiences, making them more accessible and informed than ever before.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

At Witch\u2019s Rock Surf Camp, we\u2019ve always prided ourselves on staying true to our roots, maintaining the authentic and traditional vibe that defines our values. Our team lives and breathes surfing, and we\u2019re constantly on the lookout for smarter ways to enhance our operations and the experiences we offer. That\u2019s why we were stoked when one of our guests, Micah Sklut, introduced us to his innovative creation: his very own surf forecast tool and app designed to cut through the clutter of existing platforms. The current landscape of surf forecasting tools often feels more like navigating a magazine than a practical resource, alongside dodgy forecasting. We were all eyes and ears here at WRSC, we explored what Surf Captain<\/a> had to offer. We quickly appreciated how easy the app is, and after a couple of test surfs, we adopted it into our program and used it to plan all of our lessons and trips.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Given Micah\u2019s regular presence in the lineup here in Tamarindo he would make sure his tool would be the sharpest out there! Leveraging this local knowledge and a really user-friendly way to read current conditions, we are now leaning towards this for our main forecasting choice. We understand that navigating surf apps can be challenging for many of our guests, which is another of our reasons why we\u2019ve partnered with Micah and Surf Captain<\/a>. Our collaboration aims to equip our guests with the skills and information you\u2019ve acquired here and enhance their forecasting ability for future surf sessions.
